Graduation Party

For my graduation party, I looked to Pinterest for lots of my inspiration.  I think it turned out fairly well, though definitely not perfect!

The tables outside.

A closer up of the decorations.

Inside the garage, I decorated slightly differently on the tables.  Kraft paper covered books and a pennant with the flowers.

Mom made this Congratulations banner - it turned out lovely:)

I wanted to do drinks in some galvanized tubs, and my grandpa happened to have these and let us use them!

My picture board.  I covered the cardboard display board with burlap and then put rows of twine on and clothes pinned my pictures on.

Both of us graduates with the cupcakes.  I made cupcakes and then put them on some foam board I had cut into 2014.  I saw this on Pinterest and knew I had to do it! :)

And people at the party!

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful day!  Thanks to everyone who blessed us by coming to the party (or tried coming!).  We appreciated it!

Southwest Steak Bowls

I made this for lunch the other day . . . we thought it was quite good!

Southwest Steak Bowls: AJcrazies by AJK

The recipe can be found here.  The only thing I would change about this is not doing as much rice as it said.  Three of us had this and used all the toppings, but there was too much rice in each of our bowls plus a bunch of rice left in the pot.

This makes a great, fairly simple summertime lunch!

Chevron Quilt

I had been wanting to make this pattern for a while so I decided to make it for my cousin Pamela for her graduation.  When I went to look at fabric, I didn't really find anything like what I was thinking and I just kept coming back to this fabric because I absolutely LOVED it!  I finally decided I was just going to get it and hopefully she would like it, because I wasn't sure if it "looked" like her.  I think it turned out absolutely gorgeous, anyways . . .  :)

The front

The back

While quilting it this way took forever and was kind of frustrating, it really adds to the quilt and makes it look lovely!

And a special thank you to my mom for quilting the border for me!  I've yet to do any quilting besides "straight" line quilting!
