Chevron Quilt

I had been wanting to make this pattern for a while so I decided to make it for my cousin Pamela for her graduation.  When I went to look at fabric, I didn't really find anything like what I was thinking and I just kept coming back to this fabric because I absolutely LOVED it!  I finally decided I was just going to get it and hopefully she would like it, because I wasn't sure if it "looked" like her.  I think it turned out absolutely gorgeous, anyways . . .  :)

While quilting it this way took forever and was kind of frustrating, it really adds to the quilt and makes it look lovely!

And a special thank you to my mom for quilting the border for me!  I've yet to do any quilting besides "straight" line quilting!

Diaper Pouch

I made another diaper pouch to match a diaper bag I had made . . . didn't take a picture of the diaper bag though!

The person who got the diaper bag had wanted neutrals and she likes chevron, so I had found this gray chevron print for the main part of the bag and the flowers print (which I used for the flap here) for the ruffle.  I used these leftovers and made this cute diaper pouch:)

Pajama Pant Christmas Gifts

An overly belated post!!  But I have decided I would like to start blogging regularly again . . we'll see how that goes!

I made these pajama pants for the kids for Christmas gifts.  Of course, for some reason, I had to wait until the last possible day to make them . . .but nevertheless, they were completed on time!

The girls got ruffles on the bottom of their pj pants:)

I didn't get an individual picture of Bronwyn with her fox print pants, but here are the rest of the kids.

Hunter had a license plate print on his pants.  When he opened his gift, he was jumping around and laughing and acting all weird . . . he never would tell us what was so funny about his pajama pants!!

Joe . . .oh a-hem, excuse me, I mean Walker! got a trucks and cars print.  I happened to have this t-shirt, so I made him a shirt to go with his pants:)

Morgan . . . I think this flower print is adorable!

The Bow Clutch

I started out by making the black and green bow clutch.  And I LOVED how it turned out!!

At the same time I was in the process of getting a birthday present ready for someone and I thought it needed something else to go with it, so I decided to make one of these for her, so I made the brown & tan one above.  I think it turned out pretty cute, too:)

They're not perfect, but I still think they're pretty nice:)  Especially when I haven't done all that many zippers in my lifetime.

This is the inside of the black and green one . . more of the green stripes . . so fun!!

And the inside of the tan and brown one . . . a brown printed fabric.

I now want to try some more of these . . . maybe some different sizes or with a ruffle on the front or something.

A Mini Album {Birthday Gift}

 This is a mini album I made for my cousin & best friend, Pamela, for her birthday.  It was a last minute thing - I saw my inspiration for it Friday, made it Saturday, and gave it to her Sunday, her birthday.

Wheww . . it was a relief when I finally got it done Saturday evening!

On the front I did a little pocket thing where I put some quotes I really liked in it.  All the pictures I just printed off at home, so they weren't very high quality, but they worked out okay:)

A Belated Birthday Gift: DIY Whiteboard & Keychain

For my cousin Katrina's birthday, I was having the hardest time deciding what to make her.  Earlier, closer to her birthday, I had made the key chain, but I needed something else to go with it.  Now finally on Saturday I got to making the rest of her gift.  It was actually pretty easy and quite fun to make!!

I simply took a frame and painted it white, then took a piece of scrapbook paper the size of the frame (8x10") and scrapbooked it a bit to make it cute and fun!!  I wrote "To Do" and "Words of Wisdom" on it, so she can either write reminders to herself of things she needs to do (I do that all the time on my whiteboard) or write bible verses or quotes on it.  (I think I need to make myself a whiteboard like this either for the bible verses or the notes, because they both don't end up fitting on my whiteboard:)  Then I simply added some flowers I had made onto the corner to jazz it up a bit:)

Wah - lah!!!  A DIY whiteboard since the glass works the same as a whiteboard!!

This is the key chain I made Katrina - the front and the back.  I used black and white cotton fabrics and then cut out a felt "K" and sewed it on the front to personalize it and make it cute:)  I really love these key chains.  The tutorial is here.

Wedding Gift

On July 16, 2011, my cousin Julia got married.  I made her and here husband a couple personalized hot pads for a wedding gift.

The hearts hot pad is made of jean fabric on the front and the leafy fabric on the back that is the same as one of the hearts.

The monogrammed hot pad is made of recycled jean pants.  For the K (initial of their last name), I printed off the K off the computer and then traced it on the fabric and cut it out - not too fun with all those curves:)  But I do like how it turned out, even if it was a bit more work!!

For both the hearts and K, I put interfacing on the back to make them a little less flimsy, then I used glue stick to put them on to the jean and sewed around the edges to keep them on.  Once they're washed, they'll probably both fray on the edges, but hopefully it'll look cute like that:)

Recycled Lace or Doily Tags Tutorial

These are very cute tags made from tags from clothing, such as jeans - the ones I used are from Target & I really liked them!

LACE TAGS

For the lace one, you need a tag, a strip of lace (mine was from a skirt I no longer wanted), & a sewing machine threaded with thread the same color as the lace.

1. Get a tag that you like.

2. Cut off any part that goes all the way across the bottom, like seen on this one.  Tags like this one, with just writing on the side and on the bottom work best, as you cover the stuff on the side and cut the part off the bottom.  If the edges are rounded like on this one, round the edges that you cut off.

3. Sew on the lace.  I do it a little bit longer than needed and fold it over on each side.  I also fold it over to the back on the long length.  On this tag, I used 3 strips of stitching length-wise.*  On the tops and bottoms, I did one row of stitching, just over the lace part, though.

*On a different one, the first one I made, I did two rows of stitching - it just depends on how you want the lace to hang.

And you're finished!  Unless, of course, you want to do something on the back, which I'll show you how to do after I show you how to do the Doily Tags.

DOILY TAGS

For the doily tag, you need a doily, a tag, and again, coordinating thread & sewing machine.

1. Get a tag. Cut a doily a little larger than in half, or to desired size.

2. Sew on to the tag.  I did two strips down the side, again folding it under.  I then sewed it around in a circular way to secure the doily down better.

You're Done!

Now how to do the back: You know all tags have stuff on both sides, so I decided I should cover all that junk up.  To do this, I simply cut a piece of paper to the desired size, then taped/glued it down on to the tag.

*With this picture (#1), you can kind of see how I stitched the lace & doily on better.*

Please do better than I did at cutting out paper and gluing it on - I did this quite quickly!  Before I try to give these to anybody, I think I would redo the backs, and maybe use cardstock paper rather than regular printer paper because you can somewhat see through it.

Now all you need to do is go whip up a few tags - they're simple & quick to make and they're so cute!
